the 53 project : week 15 - chihuly

I'm now officially 53, and 15 weeks into my 53-week project.  My mom and I share joint March birthdays, and what better thing to do than treat ourselves to the Chihuly show at the MFA in Boston.  I couldn't stop looking, and taking photos -- each piece was exquisite and light-filled and awe inspiring. 

If you live in the Boston area, or if the show comes to your city, make sure to see it.  The scale and power and delicacy and color and light will knock your socks off.

anchors aweigh

I went to a meeting at the U.S.S. Constitution Museum at the Charlestown Navy Yard today. I was hurrying into the meeting to escape the rain, and as I passed by the ship I heard the sailors on board singing "Anchors Aweigh." I could just glimpse them through a little porthole, and I stood in the rain until they finished their song. After the meeting (and the rain) was over, I came back out and captured a few images. aquarium & quincy market

It's school vacation week, and I took Hannah and pals Mikal and Conor in to Boston to visit the aquarium and grab lunch and do a little shopping at Quincy Market. It was a beautiful spring day -- still a little chilly near the water but great for sitting in the sun and people watching.

This lady seemed really fascinated with these balloons. Simple pleasures are the best.

Speaking of simple pleasures, there's a group for every kind of photo obsession possible on flickr. There are groups for people who like to take pictures of (among the thousands of choices) clouds, rust, fences, manhole covers, numbers, trees, food, reflections, hydrants, curlicues, and of course, signs. I'm glad Kyria and I are not alone in this amusing pastime.
