long time gone

oh blog friends ... i've missed you so.

august rushed by in a flash.
and here it is mid-september.
i've been communing with nature these past weeks:
lying on my belly in fields of fading flowers;
crouching low to inspect mushrooms;
gazing up at the sky through a filagree of branches and stems.

so long, summer.
welcome home,  fall.
i've been waiting for you.

decemberwalks : 53 project week 45

December began still warm
from the late autumn sun.
But the full moon has brought
chill wind, cold nights,
and ice that frosts the edge
of each lingering flower.

Goodnight autumn.  Hello winter.

midweek miscellany

Just some miscellaneous images
and some fences
taken on a lunchtime walk
down Rendezvous Lane.
Isn't that the best street name?
So full of possibilities.

This is one of my favorite village dogs.  Her name is Lucy, too.

Hearts.  They're all around.

Happy Halloween...

In the rose garden birdbath at St. Mary's.

Remnants of architectural details on the carriage house at the Daniel Davis House.

Some departed visitors -- forcefully relocated, I think.

Powerless.

Last of the October roses.
